The Secret Government: The Constitution in Crisis
The Secret Government: The Constitution in Crisis
From the video’s description:
“This is the full length 90 min. version of Bill Moyer’s 1987 scathing critique of the criminal subterfuge carried out by the Executive Branch of the United States Government to carry out operations which are clearly contrary to the wishes and values of the American people.”
The incredible thing about this PBS documentary is how, if you change a few names, replace “communists” with “terrorists”, and it could have been produced this year.
The story seems exactly the same, and it’s almost scary how closely it mimics today’s
issues. Have we really learned nothing in the past 21 years? This might just be the most important thing you watch this year.
Even looking at the lyrics of the Jackson Browne song they start with makes you wonder how much things can stay the same:
“You might ask what it takes to remember
When you know that youve seen it before
Where a government lies to a people
And a country is drifting to war
And theres a shadow on the faces
Of the men who send the guns
To the wars that are fought in places
Where their business interest runs”
