Trust the media.

So, I’m sure you all have read the New York Times‘ article on how the mainstream media was subvertedby military analysts who echoed Pentagon talking points.  If not, please do so now.

“I’m an old intel guy,” said one analyst. (The transcript omits speakers’ names.) “And I can sum all of this up, unfortunately, with one word. That is Psyops. Now most people may hear that and they think, ‘Oh my God, they’re trying to brainwash.’ ”

Sadly, it goes much deeper than this. Anyone remember the story of Jessica Lynch? How patriotic and inspiring was that?  Well, that was all lies.

Lynch told U.S. News and World Report: “I’m still confused as to why they chose to lie and try to make me a legend…They wanted to make people think that maybe this war was a good thing,” she said.”

Finally, remember the Pentagon’s ‘Active Denial’ system?  That harmless ray gun that would protect us without harming our enemies?  There’s a new story out on that, too…

The Ray Gun can send a signal at least a football field in width from a long distance from the target and take out (kill) hundreds of enemies within a few seconds.”

Yes, the Ray Gun is a major political correctness problem. A weapon that can instantly kill entire battalions is not a weapon our politicians believe the American people could accept.”

It’s amazing how often the News in America is lied to, and how often they, and the people, believe it.

Two years ago, a very interesting request for proposal came through:

“DARPA wants to develop inexpensive MAVs to find weapons and explosives inside buildings or caves. Mechanical and fluidic microsystems would allow remote control, could extend insect life, and provide for gas, audio and even imaging sensors. Insects would have MEMS inserted during their growth cycle, providing for production line-like integration with the creature’s biological functions.”

Wired today reports that Robert Michelson has managed to integrate mechanical components into moths during the larval stage, so that as the insect develops, it fuses with the machine:

“The realization of cyborgs with most of the machine component inside the insect body will provide stealthy robots that use muscle actuators which have been developed over millions of years of evolution.”

Edit: Interestingly enough, there seem to have been reports of these in the wild.

Is the idea of robotic bugs spying on your every move not scary enough? Remember: robots are already killing the elderly! (Thanks to glitchthrash for the link!)

Plan for voting machine probe dropped after lawsuit threat:

“Union County has backed off a plan to let a Princeton University computer scientist examine voting machines where errors occurred in the presidential primary tallies, after the manufacturer of the machines threatened to sue, officials said today.

“We shouldn’t have a corporation dictating how elections are run in the state,” Venetis said. “If an elected official believes there was an anomaly and the matter has to be investigated, then the official should be able to consult with computer experts without interference.”

Okay, I’m just curious… is there a single electronic voting machine that wasn’t made with the intent purpose of stealing elections? Anyone?

What’s even more telling is that in Europe, when their machines are proven to be untrustworthy, they don’t use them. Simple as that. Honestly, the only thing I can infer from this trend is that the leaders of our country are actively fighting against democracy in order to keep personal power.  We need to start standing up.

NY Times and the Memory Hole

From reddit.com, this was an interesting thread following a post to nytimes.com under the title “Wonder what’s the reason behing Cheney’s visit to Iraq? Read the first 4 lines.”:

Nomikos: Can someone pls copy/paste them in a comment for those unsubscribed to the NYT?

je255j: Sure.  http://www.bugmenot.com/view/www.nytimes.com
Or is that not what you meant? ;)
Seriously though, the sentence referenced is:
“Vice President Dick Cheney made an unannounced trip Monday to Baghdad, where he plans to push Iraqi political leaders toward opening the country’s vast oil fields to international companies, a senior Bush administration official said.”

recursive: They changed the article. That’s not there anymore.

je255j:  Wow. Damn. They did.  Now I wish I had copied the whole thing.

And what, might you ask, was the article changed to?

Let’s take a look at the headline: BAGHDAD — A female suicide bomber penetrated one of the most secure perimeters in Iraq Monday evening and killed at least 42 people near the Imam Hussein shrine in the Shiite holy city of Karbala, according to the Iraqi authorities.

In fact, you’ll see that oil is no longer even mentioned… that was a quick change.  Thankfully, it’s hard to disappear completely on the Internet.

Running a google search on the first headline, out of eight hits, one stands out as having copied and pasted the article in question: knoxviews.com

And they wonder why we don’t trust the media.

Venezuela petroeuro update, Anonymous pics

•March 16, 2008 • Leave a Comment

What a nice update for yesterday’s post.  Yesterday, the US introduced a resolution calling for Venezuela to be added to a US list of state sponsors of terrorism. That night, Venezuela’s state oil moves to contracts in euros.  This looks like an interesting game.

Also, I just have to post two wonderfully contrasting pictures from the recent Anonymous protests against the Church of Scientology.  For more details, see xenu.net.

Iraq stops selling oil in US Dollars, US invades.

•March 15, 2008 • Leave a Comment

What if I told you that 10 months before 9/11, Saddam Hussein did something very big, and pissed off the US Administration?

From the article:

“When Hussein started selling oil in Euros, it attacked the dollar’s dominance as the world currency. And of course, two other countries tried, or are trying, to follow suit. Venezuela tried in 2001, and within a year Chavez was almost removed in a military coup…

And now Iran is starting its own oil bourse (exchange).

Notice a trend here?

Luckily for Bush, 9/11 happened not long after Hussein started selling oil in Euros, otherwise we would not be in Iraq. Interestingly, all Iraqi reserves were quickly converted back to US dollars once we took over, and oil was once again sold in US dollars.”

For a less tinfoily look at the same topic, see Oil, Currency and the War on Iraq.

“So far only one OPEC country has dared switch to the euro: Iraq, in November 2000. There is little doubt that this was a deliberate attempt by Saddam to strike back at the US, but in economic terms it has also turned out to have been a huge success: at the time of Iraq’s conversion the euro was worth around 83 US cents but it is now worth over $1.05. There may however be other consequences to this decision.

One other OPEC country has been talking publicly about possible conversion to the euro since 1999: Iran, a country which has since been included in the George W. Bush’s ‘axis of evil’.

A third OPEC country which has recently fallen out with the US government is Venezuela and it too has been showing disloyalty to the dollar.”

The Secret Government: The Constitution in Crisis

From the video’s description:

“This is the full length 90 min. version of Bill Moyer’s 1987 scathing critique of the criminal subterfuge carried out by the Executive Branch of the United States Government to carry out operations which are clearly contrary to the wishes and values of the American people.”

The incredible thing about this PBS documentary is how, if you change a few names, replace “communists” with “terrorists”, and it could have been produced this year.

The story seems exactly the same, and it’s almost scary how closely it mimics today’s
issues. Have we really learned nothing in the past 21 years? This might just be the most important thing you watch this year.

Even looking at the lyrics of the Jackson Browne song they start with makes you wonder how much things can stay the same:

“You might ask what it takes to remember
When you know that youve seen it before
Where a government lies to a people
And a country is drifting to war

And theres a shadow on the faces
Of the men who send the guns
To the wars that are fought in places
Where their business interest runs”
